Hi everyone
Welcome to my first post on the Stobart Motorsport crew’s blog. Matt and I arrived here Monday afternoon to some sweltering heat and it has pretty much been the same over recce, but our Volvo recce cars have air-conditioning so it’s not so bad! Yesterday we covered all of day 1 and most of day 3 and unlike some recent years the roads are actually pretty smooth. Although the Psatha stage is quite a rough one which will make things tricky as it’s the last stage in both loops on Friday – meaning worn tyres on the roughest stage of the event! We’re not too concerned though with the Pirelli tyres being so strong this year. This has always been one of the highlight events on the WRC calendar and this year is no different especially with the ceremonial start taking place right below the ancient Acropolis ruins in Athens. This is something special I’m looking forward to a lot. This is just my second shot at the Acropolis Rally after last year when I finished fourth with Mark Higgins who was driving a Stobart car in the PWRC. We had a good event then and it is going to help having that experience sitting next to Matt this year.
