It has been a good start for us here in Corsica and I’m happy to have got through the first day with no troubles. Thursday night was pretty special to see all the locals come out for the ceremonial start at Place Austerlitz and all the fans at the Service Park at the autograph session beforehand. The crack has been great in the car with Paul also, although he is a tough cookie to understand with that thick Irish accent! Mind you I’m sure mine isn’t the most comprehendible for him! One thing that is great about driving as a job rather than being a mechanic, which I usually am on WRC events, is you get more sleep! The boys are sometimes working until very late and then up for 6am to get to morning Service in time. It’s rare a driver will get less than the 8 hours needed so I could definitely get used to this driving thing ;) The stage ends have been funny this rally especially talking to Colin Clark from World Rally Radio. He was my co-driver a few weeks ago at the Richard Burns Foundation benefit rally and i’ll tell you what I almost had his breakfast for pacenotes at one stage! It was great fun though and all for a great cause. The game plan for day 2 is to see if we can get into a battle with Khalid to have something to aim for. We are only 25 seconds behind him so we’ll see if we can cut this gap to nothing by the end of the day.

See you
Barry
